As we come towards the end of the rainy season, or summer as it was once known, the prospect of dark nights draws nearer. The arrival of these 1600 lumen whoppers from MagicShine  gave me just the motivation I needed to get out for some late night, pre season night rides in August.

I've been giving the Recon some fair use over the last month; Adel Jumps, Stainburn Trails, Esholt Woods and general Dales blasting to name a few. Over countless miles, many sideways corners and snatches of air time, it's remained  a comfortable, unobtrusive bit of kit. It offers a lot of protection too, the extended back of head coverage  is thankfully now common in good trail helmets....

We’ve been teasing you for a while with this one, here’s the trailer to keep you tantalised.

My new sticky pedal grippers are these 5Ten Baron shoes. They're slightly heavier duty than some of 5Ten's other offerings, but that's what I was looking for. Definitely robust, they have shown next to no signs of wear over the last month of pretty abusive riding. They are beefy enough to cope with rock strikes on more serious downhill days, but they've not felt too heavy for long days in the saddle either....

We’ve launched a forum! Still in its infancy, the hope is that the forum will grow to be a great place to chat, get route info and bike related advice as well as organising your own rides and events.

To celebrate the launch of the Forum, here we have a mini movie filmed on a sunny Friday evening in the lakes. A quick blast up to Bowscale Tarn and back down again, it’s a great little route if you only have an hour or so free....

Pump, Flow, Jumps + Drops  is a trail centre based day aimed at improving riders confidence in the air and through corners as well getting riding smoother and faster through pumping the trail.

There are also more dates on the calendar for Natural Descender skills days, Uplift days, Maintenance classes and Ladies days.

After months of hard work, Roots Riding + Takeitoutside Films are very proud to announce the launch of our short MTB movie - “Make The Move”.
Premiered in New York at the Bicycle Film Festival on 1st July, the movie will be showed in several other countries on the big screen including London on 7th October....

This kit has had a pounding. Most of it has withstood at least a year of abuse before it appears before you scratched and scuffed, muddied and bloodied, ready to be judged like a cheap regional lass on x factor.
